I recently received an interesting email from a church my family and I visited several times a few years ago. At that time, we were looking for a new church home and visited this church along with several others.

As far as I can remember, we have never heard anything from this church asking how we were doing or any encouraging words or anything outside of this email for that matter.

The email I received was telling me about how news media had attacked this church and letting me know “the truth.” Well, I knew nothing about these events and am pretty tied in with local media. And, the people with whom I’ve spoken in the community heard nothing about it either.

As I write this, a friend of mine just let me know he received the same email and had never heard from this church before either.

So, my questions:
-When we come under attack, how important is it to defend ourselves and/or attack back?
-What are your thoughts on a church contacting people on an issue like this when there’s been no other contact?

I’ll be sharing my ideas soon – I look forward to hearing yours.
