They are a very healthy church with a good history of growth and development. They have strong areas of ministry throughout the congregation, with a very high percentage of volunteers. Some of the requirements for this position include a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, at least 5 years’ pastoral staff experience with regular preaching/teaching duties; a visionary; a leader of leaders; an engaging, relational communicator, both one-on-one and with large groups; and a missional heart.

Ranked as one of the best small to medium cities in which to live in the United States, Corvallis is also a highly rated college town — home to Oregon State University. In addition to OSU, employers include Samaritan Health Services (serving a tri-county region) and Hewlett-Packard, with a mix of small tech, agriculture and forestry businesses. This scenic Pacific Northwest city has a high quality of life and a relaxed life style. It is surrounded by national forests, with great access to outdoor activities, including ocean beaches an hour away, mountains within an hour and a half, and a major metropolitan area just a short distance away. To top it off, Corvallis is located in a temperate climate and only seldom experiences extended periods of cold or hot weather.

JOB DESCRIPTION/DUTIES:
•Develop spiritual life, character, personal life, training, and attitude in a way that encourages the congregation, validates preaching/teaching and leadership, and represents Christ.
•Preach at all services each Sunday with sermons that are relevant to the current times, nurturing, guiding, equipping and challenging to meet the needs of the congregation in its walk with Christ.
•Serve as a member of the board of elders and work in partnership with the other elders to establish the vision and direction for the ministry of the church.
•Work in concert with the appropriate staff to implement worship services that reflect the church’s values without compromising Biblical standards, and work to maintain an atmosphere that ministers to the broad demographic mix of the area.
•Provide leadership development for the staff, ministry leaders, and others in the congregation as well as anticipate and plan future additions to the elder board and future staff positions.
•Oversees all employees of the church, working with the elders to develop and implement a staff supervision model appropriate to the size and complexity of the church staff.
•Ensure the effective pastoral care of the congregation, utilizing staff, non-staff and personal efforts.
•Provide effective pastoral care, motivation, and encouragement to the staff and create an atmosphere of openness and trust.
•Provide leadership and input regarding development, approval, and implementation of annual church budget.

Devote some time in kingdom activities outside the local congregation including support for and involvement in missions and other activities that demonstrate an involvement in the broader local and worldwide work of Christ.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
•At least 5 years’ pastoral staff experience that includes teaching/preaching regularly.
•Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
•Mature, Godly leader who meets and exemplifies all the Biblical qualifications of an elder.
•Consistently demonstrates godly character expressed through manifesting the 9 fruits of the Spirit.
•A student of the Word that preaches directly from the Word in a relevant, engaging, relational and authentic manner; willing and able to inspire and challenge congregation to take action for the Kingdom of God.
•Models and leads the congregation in an active pursuit of personal and corporate holiness.
•Invites and embraces personal accountability.
•Actively demonstrates, through leadership actions, a love and zeal for the church of Jesus Christ and a godly servant attitude in personal and leadership roles.
•Nurtures his life through the discipline of daily fellowship with God in prayer and Bible study.
•Visionary leader with ability to communicate a vision and motivate others toward it.
•A mentor with proven experience raising up and developing leaders.
•“People person” who enjoys being around, with, and engaging people in the church and the community.
•Excellent decision-making skills using the wisdom and discernment empowered by God.
•Outstanding listener and effective communicator.
•Solid time management skills and organizational abilities, including coordinating several activities at once and quickly analyzing and resolving specific problems.
